A swim down the river in Benahavís is a true locals secret. Hugely popular in the hot summer months, just a short distance from Marbella and Estepona and despite its popularity a remarkably beautiful spot and a great way to spend half a day of your holiday!
We swim, walk, jump and climb this approx. 1km stretch of the Rio Guadalmina, through wide open pools, narrow caverns and under waterfalls as we go deeper into the gorge. The riverbanks are filled with Oleander flowers and in the later months, ripe figs and the air is filled with dragonflies of all colours.
Taking approximately two hours to cover the route, with several long stretches where swimming is obligatory, so although easy and fun a good level of fitness and of course a good level of swimming is necessary.
Famous for its outstanding and large selection of restaurants, the nearby village of Benahavís is a wealthy, pretty town, home to many different international communities and a lot of fantastic restaurants and a good spot to recover your energy with a drink and some tapas!
